This original Shaggy Parasol (coprinus comatus) mushroom was stitched in November 2022 in a hand embroidery technique called "threadpainting". It's the only one of its kind. The unique and curious mushroom was inspired by an incredible foraging year in California - there were so many of these shaggy mushies, growing in clusters and deliquessing (turning into ink and dripping) everywhere!

I stitched some redwood duff at the base in complimentary grey and rusty orange shades. 

The oval hoop measures 6" by 4" internally and is painted black. It can be hung with a small nail using the hoop hardware at the top, or stood up with a plate stand (not included) on a table or shelf.
