Creepy Skully Spider Printed Hand Embroidery - 7"
Creepy Skully Spider Printed Hand Embroidery - 7"
This creepy spider embroidery was stitched in 2022, with use of a hand-carved block print I made the year prior. The design is based off of a photograph taken by Devin Caswell (used with permission).
Each fabric print is stretched into a hoop and embroidered by hand in a technique called "threadpainting". This helps me bring out its furry texture and the unique skull and face patterning on the body. Every time I stitch this spider I explore new colors - this one is lovely periwinkles and purples.
The hoop measures 7" round internally and is painted black. It can be hung with a small nail using the hoop hardware at the top, or stood up with a plate stand (not included) on a table or shelf.
